Once again it’s time for all you golfers to pull out the clubs and start practicing for the Council’s premier event, the Annual Golf Tournament, which will be held on Wednesday May 14th at the Hollows Golf Club in Montpelier. Get your foursomes together in readiness to sign up when full details and registration forms are published in the April edition of the Lucky Bag. This is a very popular event which fills up quickly.

As most members know the annual Golf Tournament is our premier fund raising event of the year. Last year we raised nearly $9000.00 in cash which was $1000.00 less than the year before. We also raised over $2600.00 in prizes. This was done entirely by the hard work of Board Members. The proceeds from this event go entirely towards the support of our brave Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen. Therefore, to achieve our goal of exceeding last years totals the Council is making a special appeal to ALL Navy League members to support its Board members by participating in soliciting both cash and prize giving sponsors. If you know of a company or business that would be willing to sponsor the tournament but you feel uncomfortable in approaching them just let the office know the name of the company or business and the contact person. One of our Golf Tournament Committee members will take it from there.

To assist members who have potential sponsors the Council has produced a “Sponsorship Letter” and “Options for Sponsors” to give or send to potential sponsors. (See insert).
