The Hollows Golf Course

Again this year Fred Yarbrough keeps the foursomes “on target” as they report to the registration table.
Obviously a “Happy Meal” gains the approval of the lady golfers, as they pass through the chow line at the Hollows golf Course.
CDR Picard, USN (center) credited with the “longest drive” at Council’s golf outing…the CDR drove all the way from Tampa, FL to be part of this event. Seen here receiving accolades from Council Director George Feitig.

Not to be denied! Last year’s second place team came ready to play in ‘07 and took top honors at Council’s golf tourney this year. Congratulations to the first place team of Lou McClellan, Chris Ramseur, Hollis Modrall and Paul Strickland.

Runners-up capturing second place were Vernon Thacker, Melvin Hermann, Randy Lawson and David Lefitt.

The very dubious honor goes to the team with the “highest” score of the day, coming in with close to a zillion strokes and using all of their mulligans, the team of FC2 Darren Mix, MM1 Nicholas Reese, MM1 James Stott and CTR1 Chuck Jones. So who’s perfect!

Also noteworthy and a tip of the golf cap goes to Duane Chisenhall who really nailed the longest drive of the day. Awards were presented to the golfers landing closest to the hole on the following greens: #3 DC2 Steve Johnson; #6 Gary Fleming; #1 John Guidet; #5 NC1 Larry Harris; and on #8 Bob Layne. Great work, guys!

As for the rest of us hackers – well, it turned our to be an absolutely gorgeous spring day. Yes, some of us enjoyed poking around in the woods while others played in the sand, but, no matter, as the refreshment carts were only a few minutes behind you – all day! Again this year, The Hollows did a super job feeding some 130 golfers and volunteers a delicious barbecue lunch before Chairman Alan Palmer gave the call to “start your engines”!

Please read over the list of this year’s golf sponsors printed in this issue of e-Lucky Bag. Patronize these good folks when you can and let them know how much we appreciate their financial support.

Many thanks to all who volunteered to help make this year’s golf outing the success that it was! A special salute to the Chairman of this event, Alan Palmer. Alan didn’t miss a single detail putting this together – and there were a million of them!

Another great golf outing and much fun!

A pleasant day off from their Navy Recruiting duties! The Navy Recruiting District Richmond was well represented at this year’s golf outing.
“I really think we’re lost” says golf cart “navigator” Dick Hafer. “By golly you’re right” says pilot, Charlie Morrison.
Golf Chairman Alan Palmer “kicks-off” Council’s 2007 Golf Outing
Meet the “top dogs”! Congrats to the “best-of-the-best” at Council’s 2007 Annual Golf Outing. First place winning team members: L to R Chris Ramsuer, Lou McClennan, Hollis Modrall and Paul Strickland.
