Sergeant Major Wimberly, a 24-year member of the Marine Corps, had the situation well in hand at Council’s luncheon celebrating the 232nd birthday of the Marine Corps. A faulty projector offered no distraction for the Sergeant’s power point presentation or for his very memorable address to those attending the luncheon at the Willow Oaks Club.
Following the social hour, Council President Roy Martin called on Major Andrew J. McNulty, USMC to join in the birthday cake-cutting ceremony. In the tradition of the Corps, the Major passed the first piece of cake to the oldest Marine in attendance, who passed the first piece of cake to the youngest Marine in attendance.
The Marine Corps was well-represented by Major McNulty, Sgt. Major Wimberly, several Marines from the Richmond Recruiting Station, in addition to Marine Corps veterans in attendance.
President Martin extended thanks to Sgt. Major Wimberly for his outstanding presentation at today’s luncheon. Thanks also to Director Pat Hoggard and the luncheon committee for their work on this Marine Corps birthday luncheon.
