Directors Gilchrist and Allen Board Northland for Presentation of Deployment Dollars (16 NOVEMBER 2007)

PORTSMOUTH COAST GUARD STATION ABOARD COUNCIL’S ADOPTED SHIP USCGC NORTHLAND (WMEC 904)

On a cold and windy Friday in November, Council received a warm welcome from NORTHLAND’s Executive Officer, LCDR Spolodoro. It was the week before Thanksgiving and a very busy time for the crew preparing for their upcoming deployment.

Henry Allen and Denny Gilchrist shared the presentation of Council’s Deployment Dollars consisting of the “chits” (to be dispersed at daily muster during their deployment) and the check payable to NORTHLAND’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation fund.

On behalf of NORTHLAND’s Sailors, LCDR Spolodoro expressed thanks to the Richmond Council and told how very much fun the daily drawings were for the crew.

Added to the presentation was a box of “goodies”, thanks to the firm of Owens & Minor whose home office is located in Mechanicsville. The LCDR said the many boxes of playing cards and other items will be put to good use by the crew during the long hours of their upcoming deployment.

Council Directors wished all aboard NORTHLAND a safe and successful deployment as they left the ship.
