USS DONALD COOK TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED EXERCISE SEA BREEZE 2007, TO ASSIST IN A SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATION IN THE BLACK SEA, TUESDAY.
A CREWMEMBER FROM THE LIBERIAN MERCHANT VESSEL BARENTS BAY FELL OVERBOARD APPROXIMATELY 54 MILES OFF THE COAST OF ROMANIA.
THE MARITIME RESCUE CENTER IN ROMANIA DESIGNATED DONALD COOK AS THE ON-SCENE COORDINATOR OF THE SEARCH.
DONALD COOK ORDERED A PORTION OF SHIPS FROM THE SUSPENDED MULTINATIONAL NAVAL EXERCISE TO ASSIST IN THE SEARCH.
REGRETTABLY, THE CREWMEMBER WAS NOT RECOVERED.

guided-missile destroyer USS Donald Cook (DDG 75). Donald Cook is participating in exercise Sea Breeze 2007, a two-week joint invitational and combined maritime exercise held
annually in the Black Sea and at various land-based Ukrainian training facilities with the goals of enhancing multinational interoperability, developing Black Sea-nation maritime security capabilities, and
improving involvement in Navy Europe’s larger Black Sea Theater Security Cooperation strategy.
